With its 30 floors and a total height of 111 metres, the AZ Tower, designed by the architectural office Burian – Křivinka, is the tallest skyscraper in the Czech Republic, offering splendid views of Brno and its surroundings. The building consists of a three-storey multipurpose base (shopping gallery, fitness centre, car service) with a two-storey underground parking garage, and a high-rise structure (above only part of the building’s floor plan). This environmentally-friendly construction was designed using the latest materials. The two blocks symbolize playfulness and lightness, with angled verticals and precise lines.
The reinforced concrete structure of the tower, housing office spaces and apartments, is interrupted by the façade on the eastern side, reaching a height of 109.5 metres. The steel structure at the top of the building accounts for the overall height of 111 metres. An antenna placed on top reaches a height of 116 metres. For its energy, the building draws on geothermal heat, deep pile accumulators, and solar panels mounted on the southern side of the façade. The top seven floors of the building are home to apartments with a unique view.
The "Brno Skyscraper", AZ Tower was officially opened on 26 June 2013. In April 2014 it won the "Building of the Year 2013" award for the South Moravian Region in the category of Best Public Building and ranked 9th in the international Emporis Skyscraper Award for buildings taller than 100 metres.
